Tested on a secure human evaluation set covering 12 use cases — including asking for advice, brainstorming, creative writing, inhabiting a character/persona, and others — it showed superior performance in real-world applications compared to similar models. This progress comes from focusing on model design, extensive pretraining, and precise fine-tuning.

Based on Figure 2, there are several benchmark datasets, including MMLU for testing language understanding across various subjects, GPQA for expert-level science questions, HumanEval for assessing coding ability, GSM-8K for grade school math problems, and MATH for competition-level math questions.
